In 2006, the Breast Care team announced the arrival of the Mammotome® MR Biopsy System, a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) guided breast biopsy device that has allowed physicians to bring the benefits of minimally invasive breast biopsy and the reliability of the Mammotome Biopsy System to more of their patients.
On February 16th 2007, the Mammotome team celebrated the launch of MR Biopsy System using the new Universal Targeting Set, a system designed for fast and easy setup, handheld use, and visual targeting. The Universal system offers:
- Imageable aperture — visually verifying probe placement relative to lesions
- Handheld holster — for use with most grid localization systems
- Two probe lengths, both 115mm and 145mm — allowing for breast access
- Needle size options — both 11g and 8g probes offering quick sampling and large specimens
- Z-lock — providing stability and consistent Z-depth during sampling
At Mammotome, we are committed to transforming patient care through innovation. Please help the Breast Care team celebrate the milestone of three million women receiving a minimally invasive breast biopsy with either the stereotactic, ultrasound, or MRI version of the Mammotome Biopsy System.
